SCENE 4: EXT. GARDEN. DAY
It’s a beautiful garden; Mr. Adeolu sits and reads a Christian magazine under a short canopy tree. On the garden table is a box of scrabble game, two bottles of water, some snacks and his Bible opened with a highlighted portion which reads, “But whosoever commits adultery with a woman lacks understanding; he that does it destroys his own soul. A wound and dishonor shall he get, he reproach shall not be wiped away.” Proverbs 6:32-33. He uses the magazine to cover his face as he rest his head backwards on the chair. Ruth walks elegantly into the garden and takes the magazine off his face.
- ADEOLU: Oh, you are here.
RUTH: This is a lovely place. The surrounding is serene. What do you normally come to do here?
- ADEOLU: Yes, it so lovely. I usually come here with my wife to relax, study, and play games. It is part of our family relaxation.
RUTH: And where is your wife?
- ADEOLU: She travelled.
RUTH: Then you shouldn’t be here alone.
- ADEOLU: Will you at least take a seat. We’ve got a lot to discuss on the singles conference.
RUTH: Oh, yes. (She takes her seat, Mr. Adeolu offers her a bottle of water and some snacks.
- ADEOLU: Do you play Scrabble?
RUTH: Yeah, though it’s been a while.
- ADEOLU: We can talk over the game. (Mr. Adeolu sets the scrabble board on the table. They start to play. Mr. Adeolu’s first play is “LOVE”, while Ruth plays “LUST”. They laugh over it and continuing talking as the board gets filled. Mr. Adeolu and Ruth stand and take a walk in the garden holding hands.
