Soft Music plays underground, Mr. Richards and Miss Clara walk in into an exquisite restaurant. Mr. Richard is very courteous as he paves way for the elegant Miss Clara who is full of smiles. He draws out a chair for her, she sits joyously.

Mr. Richard and Miss Clara are enjoying their meals. They exchange amorous glances, giving complements to each other. Underneath the table, leg romance is ongoing. Miss Clara giggles and smiles as she is enjoying every bit of the outing. She places her right hand with the palm face down on the table, Mr Richard sights the hands and places his own hands on hers, revealing his wedding ring.

A young pretty lady, Miss Ruth sits at the front seat of a car driven by an attractive charming man, Mr. Adeolu. He cracks a joke and Miss Ruth laughs hilariously. She also teases him and he laughs. Mr. Adeolu places his right hand on her laps. Miss Ruth is not convenient with that gesture but relaxed when she saw the affection in his eyes. Mr. Adeolu packs the car, stretches his hand to her for a handshake, she accepts it, and Mr. Adeolu complements the handshake with his left hand, revealing his wedding ring.

Ruth ruminates and soliloquizes simultaneously.

RUTH: (in her mind) Why get fascinated by an handsome married man?

RUTH: Oh, he is very attractive and fun to be with.

RUTH: (in her mind) Ruth this is wrong and very dangerous.

RUTH: No, No. He loves to be around me and truly I love the aura his presence commands.

RUTH: (in her mind) Ruth! Fight this desire that covets another woman’s husband.

RUTH: the more I resist him, the more persist. His affections grow stronger daily in my heart. I can’t even run away from his because he chairs a committee I’m a secretary to.

RUTH: (in her mind) Ruth!!!!!!!!!!!!

It’s a beautiful garden; Mr. Adeolu sits and reads a Christian magazine under a short canopy tree. On the garden table is a box of scrabble game, two bottles of water, some snacks and his Bible opened with a highlighted portion which reads, “But whosoever commits adultery with a woman lacks understanding; he that does it destroys his own soul. A wound and dishonor shall he get, he reproach shall not be wiped away.” Proverbs 6:32-33. He uses the magazine to cover his face as he rest his head backwards on the chair. Ruth walks elegantly into the garden and takes the magazine off his face.

  1. ADEOLU: Oh, you are here.

RUTH: This is a lovely place. The surrounding is serene. What do you normally come to do here?

  1. ADEOLU: Yes, it so lovely. I usually come here with my wife to relax, study, and play games. It is part of our family relaxation.

RUTH: And where is your wife?

  1. ADEOLU: She travelled.

RUTH: Then you shouldn’t be here alone.

  1. ADEOLU: Will you at least take a seat. We’ve got a lot to discuss on the singles conference.

RUTH: Oh, yes. (She takes her seat, Mr. Adeolu offers her a bottle of water and some snacks.

  1. ADEOLU: Do you play Scrabble?

RUTH: Yeah, though it’s been a while.

  1. ADEOLU: We can talk over the game. (Mr. Adeolu sets the scrabble board on the table. They start to play. Mr. Adeolu’s first play is “LOVE”, while Ruth plays “LUST”. They laugh over it and continuing talking as the board gets filled. Mr. Adeolu and Ruth stand and take a walk in the garden holding hands.

Ruth paces up and down in her room apparently disturbed. She kneels to pray. She hears a disturbing voice in her head.

VOICE: You are so filthy. You are a shame and a disappointment to God and all those singles that look up to you. Do you think God can hear you? You are doomed.

RUTH: Oh Lord, I’m sorry. Please have mercy on me. I don’t know what came over me.

VOICE: God is angry with you. He has put you aside. You are a disappointment.

RUTH: Ah, I only felt the warmth of his embrace and his caresses; I didn’t allow him to kiss me.

VOICE: But in your heart, you have kissed him and gone to bed with another man’s wife. You don’t deserve God’s love.

RUTH: No. God loves me unconditionally. Thought the arms of flesh fail me, he will not cast me away. You accuser, enough is enough, shut up. (She falls down and starts wailing before God.) Lord Jesus, please forgive me, deliver me from this inordinate affection. I want to live for your glory. I receive grace to be pure and holy. Lord… (a white cloud envelopes her.)

Ruth sits and faces the Camera.

RUTH: That was how I was delivered and maintained my chastity. I am free from the tight grip of satan. I rose up from that encounter a different person. Though I saw him severally afterwards, that inordinate affection had died. Since, I’ve always make sure that I am in a company of a friend whenever I have to see him, or ensure his wife is around. With several other precautionary measures, I have maintained my chastity.

Camera pans 270 degrees to reveal Miss Clara weeping.

RUTH: Weep not the weep of for regret. Rather, weep for repentance. Those of us you admire today for our noble characters, virtues and beautiful lives have not also been spared the temptations of this world. We had failed, fallen and fumbled but we didn’t stay down. We reached out for the mercies of God and his grace enabled us to overcome. That grace is still available. (Clara kneels soberly in prayers; Ruth walks to her, hold her hands) Isaiah 1:18 says “Come now and let us reason together says the Lord. Though your sins are as scarlet, they shall be with as snow, though they be red as crimson; they shall be with as wool.

“But God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able, but will with the temptation also make a way of escape that ye may be able to bear it.”

 1 Corinthians 10:13

“Resist the Devil and He will flee from you.”

 James 4:7
